Just received this rail [10.18.2020]though it’s my first time utilizing a Daniel Defense rail system, I figured I’d give my 1st impressions. The machining is smooth to the touch, along with three rail covers that are just comfortable. The barrel nut wrench may look off putting as if you bought it from a garage sale, that’s where the patience comes in. 1/3 of the teeth will lock in except for one. It slightly hovers over the pocket on the barrel nut, this is where you carefully torque it into the upper threads. If you get annoyed you might strip some metal off. But luckily I did it with patience, loctite and screwed in the rail in place. Even though the screws are questionable, Me happy.

What can you say? Top Quality, great strength. Other cheaper rails may be cast or have cheap, weak anodization. Not Daniel Defence. This thing is mulled out if bar stock with MilSpec anodization & laser marked rails.

I am a huge fan of Daniel Defense rifles and their products but cannot understand for the life of me why they use such horrible screws for the ddm4 and slim rails. I have both rails on different firearms and stripped out the screws on both rails and had to replace with different screws. For a product that the costs $365 (DDM4 10”) and $270 (Slim 9”) you would thing they would give you quality mounting hardware and this is not the case. Love Daniel Defense but am very disappointed at their hardware quality.

At 1.9" wide, this is a great quad rail if you don't like the larger M4A1 version (RIS II).
