The Guntec USA AR-15 Air-Lok Series M-LOK Compression Free Floating Gen 2 Handguard/Mono Rail is a triangle / diamond skeletonized handguard that features a free floating design. Made with a monolithic Picatinny rail on the top and sides and M-LOK slots on 4 sides (top, bottom, left & right sides). With a proprietary barrel nut, this rail system will lock down your gun for a long period of time. The AR-15 Air-LOK Rail System is a locking system, so it will not come loose or fall off. With a magazine well on the bottom, this is an extremely versatile, low profile, free floating handguard. The top of the handguard features a machined QD swivel on each side. Weighing only 7.6 ounces, this handguard, along with a forend and all other accessories, make this the lightest and most versatile handguard on the market. Bought this on another site. I picked the Guntec because it's practically impossible to find a lightweight handguard with color selection that fits a billet upper. There are only a couple out there.I'd give the handguard itself 3 stars. The finish machining isn't very nice, very "crisp" edges to all the cuts. Like they took it right off the CNC machine and painted it. That alone makes it feel cheap compared to other brands I've used. I don't know if it's the quality of the coating or the machining, but you can see some slight marks in the right light. It just looks a lot cheaper than it actually costs. My bigger complaint is with Guntec. As soon as I picked up the package I could tell the handguard was too heavy. Weighed it, sure enough it's 3 ounces heavier than listed. Called Guntec and the lady said they shipped some with steel nuts because… people didn't know how to treat the aluminum ones (???). She mailed me the correct nut. I took off my old HG, barrel, gas block, then put it all back on with the new nut, only to find out that my 1.25" crowfoot is about a millimeter too wide for the flats. I'm very annoyed at this point. I go to four different stores and none carry a slim crowfoot over 1". I see that Guntec sells one on their site… for $20… PLUS $20 SHIPPING. The issue is that they're too cheap and / or lazy to manufacture appropriate barrel nuts for the two different styles of free float HGs they make. There's literally no reason for the "clamp on" HG to use the "slide on" barrel nut that has to be timed. None. When you see how underwhelming the finishing is on the HG itself, it's obvious that this company isn't even trying to make a quality product. My AT3 handguard is EXACTLY the same price right now, and it's night and day for quality. Unmistakable. The Guntec HG feels like some no-name Chinese junk by comparison. Now I'm buying a potmetal crowfoot off Amazon to get this thing on. Plus my wasted gas to look for it in person. Plus the totally unnecessary waste of a week of my time with my upper in the vice.If this product were $70, WITH a crowfoot, I'd feel like I got what I paid for.
