The handles feature an extended ridge for better clamping with the latch down so it wont catch on gear when charging. The wider width works great with a heavy barricade. The T6 6061 handles are machined to close as much as possible with the hardened engraved stipple machined texture. This allows the handle to be of much better assistance in the case of an emergency, such as letting go of an operator held hostage, letting a wounded animal escape, etc., and not snag as easily as the standard model.
