I will say for the limited number of 4 inch free floating handguards available this is the BEST balance between cost & quality, The fit and finish are great and the price range (50-$60) is on point especially since it's manufactured in the U.S.A. I paired this with one of the GUNTEC USA stripped dedicated 9MM billet uppers and it is every bit as solid and pleasing to the eyes as any build I've done AND at a much more reasonable price point too.

That is a decent enough handguard and mounts straight forward enough but sadly it missed a mark that it should've nailed first and foremost. The lines/angles of it do not match their own custom upper(s) which in some pictures it appeared to and was the main reason I purchased. The finish is ok albeit thin and not quite a match for their upper either but in my care I'm certain do that not a huge issue but in most others cases that may be a point of contention.

Ive bought a few guntec parts over the years. I have not built any low quality AR's but I have built budget conscious guns. You can get burned in this price range with low quality parts. I say all that to say that Guntec has never dissapointed me. Including this nice clean lightweight handguard. Nice machining nice flawless coating and simply funcional. Installed it looks clean and solid. Not crappy low budget junk but nicely thought out well made AFFORDABLE guality.

I was skeptical about buying this handguard after reading the reviews. It seemed like lots of people are having troubles with the barrel nut. I went ahead and ordered it since I had a coupon and I couldn’t beat it for the price. I bought the 4 in one for a dedicated .22 upper. I used a crescent wrench to tighten the barrel nut and it worked just fine. It came with a few shims to put between the nut and receiver. It turned out great! I would recommend it if your looking for a handguard.

In regards to the Guntec 4 inch model, it meets my minimum requirements as a barrel shroud. This handguard is being used in conjunction with a Faxon 4.5" 9mm bbl (AR9), to which the handgaurd was about 7/16" past the bbl muzzle. I ended up purchasing a KAK Micro Slimline (1.75in) Flash Can to remedy this. The Guntec handguard will pass on the over the the flash can, if you intend to swap muzzle devices. This handguard ships with 5 bbl nut shims for clocking the bbl nut, though I didn't need to use them. Some commenters have echoed some frustration with the (steel) bbl nut as far as wrenching is concerned, and I get it. The flats are kinda skinny, but 10" Proto L710 adjustable wrench was what I used. My Proto was at near maximum opening, just under 1¼, [31mm approx]. Don't let the wrench flat peculiarity be the deal breaker, because the handguard will conceal any wrenching blemishes occurring to the bbl nut. The rating star I shorted this handguard on involves a .020 gap that exists between the picatinny railing between the upper receiver and the handgaurd. I feeler gauged it, and it's a perfect .020" around the circumference of the assembly. Maybe Guntec intended this gap, IDK, but its there. I could get rid of it if I spent the time with a die grinder and trim back some of the extrusion stiffing ribs inside the handguard. Then file out the 6 screw hols in the handguard…not worth the trouble. I installed a AR Stoner Aluminum Micro Handstop on the belly of this handguard for safety reasons, and it fits great. Good price point, protects bbl, and protects my hands from hot bbl were/are my mission parameters on this handguard and were met. I think this 4" handguard is best used on pistol caliber builds involving bbl lengths of 4½-6". The only other 4 inch handguard available I would considering is twice the price, but twice as nice, by Rock River.

This Guntec front grip looks great on my rifle it is solid and light weight. The barrel nut is solid and of steel construction. It comes with some shims to make sure it is perfectly aligned. I did not want to use an adjustable wrench on it so I purchased the crows foot, available on this site. I strongly advise this tool , it made installation a breeze. The crows foot worked perfectly with my 1/2”torque wrench.
