If it is approximately 12 1/2″ it is a rifle length system, if it is approximately 9″ it is a Midlength and 7″ for a Carbine length. 308 Rifles: There are two basic types of 308 “size” AR rifles, often referred to as DPMS or Armalite “compatible” rifles. The parts, magazines etc do not interchange. For an easy way to differentiate between the two styles of rifles, look at the rear bottom of the upper receiver. A DPMS compatible rifle has a rounded edge while an Armalite has an angled edge. We offer a coupler nut for both types. DPMS #15060 with a 1 7/16″-16 TPI and Armalite #15061 with a 1 7/16″-18 TPI. Forends work with all barrel types that will work with a standard Delta ring. Will not fit rifles with Piston Gas Systems. Will fit older model ARs and M-16s with triangular shaped handguard. Hogue products are some of the best. I have built muliple rifles and they all have Hogue grips and forends. This forend looks great and is very comfortable to grip. The Opticsplanet site was easy to navigate and delivery was on time.

Great fit and overmold is very comfortable. Parts kit let's you customize to your personal taste. The included plastic wrench for tightening the barrel nut is a nice thought but I was unable to get enough torque to align hole for gas tube. I recommend a rubber strap wrench and upper vice block. I am very pleased with this setup and highly recommended it

I think this product is good to go. Everything I expected. The OD green goes perfectly with the other hogue pistol grip and buttstock. Overall, good product. I would definitely recommend this for your build.

I love this rail, I have always thought that the hogue rubber was nice for grips. The aluminum and rubber combo is better than what I expected. It is a thin profile, and I had to order a low profile gas block. There is only 1.62” total clearance on th Internsl Diameter.

I ordered this handguard to go with a Hogue fixed stock I owned on one of my 556s. The directions I read online on how to install it were confusing to say the least. It turned out to be pretty easy to install. Just make sure you “season” the threads on the upper (hand tighten and unscrew the new barrel but 3 times). I was in between gas port holes and once I said a few cuss words,I figured out how to use the provided black wrench. It slips a little so make sure your vice is secure. Looks great. Feels great. I was worried if I had enough thread to “time” the holes on the muzzle end. With a little blue Loctite I was able to get it snug without over-tightening the rail.

I wish they actually sold it for the ar10 and not where you have to buy it for an ar15 and then buy the ar10 barrel nut/tube extension too and what, throw away the ar15 barrel nut it came with? Because if you want one on an ar15 build the next one you buy will also come with another ar15 barrel nut. Also, forget the wrench they send, it’s garbage. It will fit the barrel nut but it won’t fit the jam nut so what you need to do is just throw it directly in your trash and get a strap wrench. It is also relatively tedious to clock perfectly. If you are the person that mounts a scope and thinks the crosshairs look ok when you shoulder it but then you go to sight in that rifle and realize the crosshairs are about 15° off this free float tube is not for you and you may want to go with the tube that doesn’t have rails to clock on the end. I got mine absolutely perfect but it took a lot of tries. The tube will want to walk as you tighten the jam nut so it will just take you a minute. Last negative is at least on the rifle length it is made to go up to a front sight gas block which means it will not cover your standard lo pro gas block. It will only cover the entire length of your gas tube. I don’t know if it is the same deal for mid and carbine lengths. On the plus i love it on my ar10, i like the rubber grip and i got it to match my hogue grip and stock. This listing calls it desert tan but it is in fact fde and as such it perfectly matches the rest of the hogue fde furniture i have. It is solid, the accessory rails are perfect, add what you want to the end where you want it. I needed this version so i could mount my bipod. Honestly, i will probably buy it again for a 6.5 creedmore upper build.
