The LCH7 is Lancer’s flagship free-floating carbon fiber handguard which has been painstakingly engineered to reduce weight while improving the overall strength and accuracy of the AR-10 platform. Contrary to popular belief, we designed these handguards in carbon fiber not for cosmetic reasons, but because our carbon fiber handguards are lighter, stronger, and less heat-conductive than their aluminum counterparts. While they are certainly one of the best options on the market for competition use, they are much more than just “go-fast parts”. The immense strength, durability, and low thermal conductivity of Lancer’s carbon fiber handguards have made them the favored handguard system for some of the most demanding military units and law enforcement agencies both in the United States and in our allied countries around the globe. NOTE: The proprietary free-floating handguard mount requires the removal of the barrel and specialized knowledge of the AR-10 platform for successful installation and removal. Fixed front sight posts and gas blocks may also need to be removed during installation. If you’re not comfortable performing these tasks on your rifle system, please consult a certified gunsmith for professional installation. The weakness of the handguard is the mounting of the handguard. The handguard is bolted to the mount. However, this only works if the handguard is a very tight fit to the mount. Return the handguard if it is oversized for the mount, or tighten the bottom bolts to mate the bottom handguard surface to the mount surface. Then, tighten the top bolts. If the handguard is made correctly, it should be solid. The Precision Reflex Gen III handguard or the JP Enterprises Mark III handguard have superior mounting methods. The Precision Reflex handguard is carbon fiber. It has a threaded cap at the end of the carbon fiber that threads on to the mount.

Install was fairly easy, just make sure you have the proper tools readily available. Follow the instructions and you’ll be set. It’s light but as others have said it’s not too big of a difference in weight compared to the aluminum hand guards. Just beware this is a pretty large hand guard circumference wise. My only criticism for this hand guard would be to take about .25 to.30 inches off in diameter and it would be perfect.

I like it a lot. However, I set my torque wrench to 60 foot lbs (50-80 foot lbs as per the instructions), and at that torque the teeth on the barrel nut were breaking off. Besides that it is pretty good.

After purchasing and mounting this hand guard on my AR-10 20" Rifle build I find my rifle to be very visually appealing with the carbon fiber weave however the mounting process for the hand guard requires an experienced gunsmith. The barrel nut/extension requires red thread lock to be used and it precisely aligned with the receiver in order for the gas tube to fit through the extension. The process to install is very specific and requires experience. The hand guard is fairly light enough and balances out any heavy barrel or long barrel rifle, However the weight saving in comparison to an aluminum m-lok hand guard is minimum. This is a produce that caters towards competition, bench and long range shooters due to the benefits of carbon fiber.
