The Strike Industries GRIDLOK LITE Rail for AR-15 takes innovation from GRIDLOK but this is a 1-piece design to minimize weight and offer a cost-effective option. Using the same Patent Pending Quick Rail Detach system, only one of very few handguards on the market today that can be removed at home or in the field quickly without tools. With the Quick Rail detach system, a simple push and pull of the of the quick detach (QD) latch, you have the handguard off in seconds to make any adjustments to an adjustable gas block or installation/removal of a suppressor. The QD latch has also been redesigned with a new locking button for earlier latch locking. Integrated into the front of the GRIDLOK LITE is the built-in flip up backup iron sight (BUIS). Compatible with the M-LOK system at the 3, 6 and 9 oclock locations. In the rear of the handguard you will find a integrated 360 free swivel QD socket for a 2-point setup. Rear tabs with set screws at the top the SI GRIDLOK LITE help center the top rail to the upper receiver to ensure proper alignment. The cut in front was designed to help fit suppressors up to 1.57″ (39.9mm) in diameter and of course all SI muzzle devises including the SI OPPRESSOR for those looking for that tucked look. The handguard is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and the barrel nut is machined from 7000 series aluminum which excels in applications that require lightweight and high strength. The Strike Industries GRIDLOK LITE for AR-15 brings you features and improvements from big brother GRIDLOK but with a more lightweight and cost-effective option. Purchased this for a SBR build and I was needed access to the SI cagb (Adjustable gas block)and this fits the bill. Looks clean it's a little longer than 8.5in just enough I didn't believe a can direct thread can would fit. 9in barrel. The BUIS is about as good as off-roading with a donut. It moves 1 mm side to side.

I love strike industries and their products. But the design of the barrel nut has a flaw in the timing and honestly they should’ve kept the design of their last gen barrel nut with the multiple divots for the gas tube to run up into the upper receiver because the one that comes with this handguard will not come to line up for the gas tube when spec’d out to 40-50 ft lbs of torque. It’s a mere >1/4” and the shims only make it worse. I never put my shims between barrel and receiver so let’s clear that up. But it doesn’t matter if you put 1 or two of the shims supplied with it, it just won’t line up. On top of that you start to get a gap between the upper receiver and the handguard. So I spent a week emailing strike industries about getting the older style barrel nut and they discontinued that design. They proceeded to tell me to cut a channel in the barrel nut to accommodate the gas tube channel. Smh. I’m not built that way when it comes to my builds but it worked. So for now it weighs on me the channel I cut but it works. Strike Industries dropped the ball on this flawed design of the barrel nut. But dang does it look good. So if your debating about this handguard buyer beware, your gonna have to think outside the box. 3 stars is for looks and quality. But the rest was left blank for the fact that you have to get it to work. Note I did reach out to a lot of my AR buddies and forums to which actually came across a few builders that had same problem to which they got the same reply from SI.

I really like SI. Their products have never failed me until now. The barrel nut is un-timeable. Shims, no shims, it doesn’t matter. Now let’s just get it out of the way that I use shims between the handguard and barrel. But it’s to the mere 1/4” that the barrel nut won’t line up with the gas tube channel. I spent a week emailing SI about the issue and requesting to get their prior barrel nut design with the divots or channels but they said they discontinued that design. Their response in the current problem I was having was to cut a channel of my own with a dremel tool. Gotta say that’s not the way I build my machines but it did work. Looks great. Very versatile and the quick release design is something that actually sold me to buy it in the first place. I also like the integrated front iron sight but the mere fact I had to fabricate my own means to getting it to work blew me away. So the stars I give is for the quality, anodizing and design but I left the rest blank for bad mounting design.

Another problem with tolerances and a Strike product. Thought I would give them a try against reviews I had heard from other people. Needess to say the product may look great and seem awesome, but it has problems. Barrel nut threads seized up and becoming stuck well before 30 ft-lb of force (yes, grease was applied before starting the installation).. Strike's customer service is also no help. Needless to say, I won't purchase this product or another product again from Strike Industries.
