This is a nice handguard. It look great and feels solid. I had no problems with the install. Shipping was quick and it was well-packaged. The 14-in was perfect for my carbine length rifle. I’d grab one of these Arwen’s again if I was looking for another handguard.

This handguard is exactly what I ordered. The fit was seamless. I would recommend it to a friend. It shipped in a very fast manner. During this pandemic there service is at the top. Everything came as pictured, and packed where it couldn’t get damaged.

Not even gonna lie, this rail is very underrated. I was putting together a budget 10.5 to keep in the truck for the farm so when I came across the Arwen, I decided to try it, especially for the price. Most all us associate UTG with lower end or entry level products but I was shocked at the quality and how well it felt in the hand. I liked it enough that I decided put it on another 10.5 upper I use to test lowers/triggers. I’ve had the rail around 8 months and it’s had roughly 3000 rounds on it and everyone that shoots with it can’t believe it’s UTG. I have rails 2-3x the cost that aren’t as nice and don’t feel as good in the hand. I run a Gen1 Cloud Defensive REIN light and Emissary handbrake on it so it definitely gets attention when a $350 light is on a $70 rail lol but it takes a beating and it’s never shifted. I’m not saying it compares to my MK4 Fed in strength, but it’s worth every penny and will definitely surprise you.

The Arwen is perfect for my build – the end of this 17" guard is past the threaded portion of the 16" barrel. This will let a hider or flash Can extend without any barrel showing. The guard is solid and feels good to the touch. This is not "mall ninja" stuff. It has the anti rotation tabs. I plan on getting a couple more of these.

I am happy with the quality of this as well as other UTG parts. (Especially their PRO scope rings). The machining is perfect – well finished with almost a “soap bar” treatment of machined edges. Coating is even and seems durable, though I haven’t been rough with the PCC it ended up on. The barrel nut and crowfoot that came with it are also excellent quality. It did require slight fitting to create a seamless fit with the upper receiver top rail (you may need to lap your upper). This is due to the design of how the hand guard attaches to the barrel nut – 2 screws settle into a machined groove on the nut – which will need to be a precise distance from the front face of the upper for a perfect fit. It required me to remove and lap twice after torque ing the barrel nut. …sort of a pain. Second issue is the durability of the connection. Those two screws that hold the guard in place are torqued, but at a low weight (it comes with specs). I hate using LocTite. ….it needs LocTite. (Blue). They backed out on my second range visit during cold weather – causing the hand guard to slip forward – ending my range session. So I would label this a nice quality guard for a recreational build. You want a service rifle – go with a more secure attachment than two little helicoil screws in a groove.

I got the 10" handguard (Code: 2NZ-HZ-UTG203-MTU045SEM).Before anything else, this is MADE IN USA. Enough reason to rank this high in my selection process as well as yours if you love your country/USA. The finish is excellent. Color is uniform. Smooth. No visible tool marks. The weight of the handguard including the barrel nut is 9.3 oz. The handguard has tabs/horns the locks into the upper receiver which eliminates the trouble of aligning the handguard and the receiver. There are also helical thread inserts for the bolts that lock into the barrel nut. Circumference (exluding the protrusion for the retaining bolts and rail) is a little over 1.5 inches. For the price paid (~$60), this was a great buy.
